852 kg of tobacco seized in Coimbatore suburbs in one day- 5 arrested

Coimbatore: Police have seized 852 kg of tobacco products in a single day in the suburbs of Coimbatore and arrested five people in this connection

According to a press release issued by the Coimbatore District Police said that, 'Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Selvanagaratnam IPS, conducted raids on the orders of the police in the Karumathampatti and Pollachi sub-areas on 23.07.2021. During the raid, 390 kgof tobacco were illegally sold in the Karumathampatti police station area and 132 kg packets of tobacco were illegally sold in the Heeraram and Pollachi East police station limits.

Kovilpalayam police arrested 1) Sadiq 2) Gunasekaran and seized 330 kg packets of tobacco illegally in the area and arrested 1) Narenlal, 2) Ajparan and confiscated a total of 852 kg packets of tobacco from them in the above cases.

Similarly, the District Superintendent of Police has directed the authorities to take stern action against those involved in illegal activities.
